I'm planning on hanging several flower boxes this spring and wondered what suggestions you have for flowers that would do well in these. Some will be in full sun and some in shadier areas with late day full sun.

    Susie,
Being a boy from Beavercreek myself, I have a bunch of experience in that neck of the woods. The first rule of thumb for flower boxes is that more is NOT better. The more room you give your plants to grow ,the happier they will be , and we all love happy plants. And window boxes are fairly high mantainence, as they dry out quickly. I have to think that you want some hangy down things ,alternateing with some up rights. For your sun areas you can't go wrong with a seies of Petunias called the WAVES. They grow like crazy, but are also constantly hungry, so you have to feed them. (I use Miracle Grow)...For uprights, any sun lovers like Marigolds, Vinca,Salvia, and Zinnias as annuals would work. Perennials don't bloom all summer , so I am not going to recommend them unless you want. Impatiens , Begonias, and Coleus are great shade lovers;curious to know how much actual shade that you have, and when does the late afternoon sun pop up .All of these guys are found as Bedding Plants in your local garden center, and or Lowes across from the Mall down by Mom's old house.
